The Chard Your Yard program will install Chard Your Yard garden beds in the following area:
- The North boundary is the Midtown Greenway
- The East boundary is the Mississippi River
- The South boundary is the Minnehaha Parkway
- The West boundary is Hiawatha Avenue
The reason is logical; gardens are made of wood and dirt, and are HEAVY. So the farther we have to travel, the more difficult this task becomes. And the larger that area becomes, the more demand we get for the limited number of beds we provide.
Garden beds are available for the following neighborhoods:
- Cooper
- Corcoran (part of)
- Ericcson
- Hiawatha
- Howe
- Longfellow
- Seward
- Standish
Subsidized Garden Beds and Funding from the Longfellow Community Council
The Chard Your Yard program makes available subsidized beds for persons with low income and physical disabilities. Some of these subsidies are provided by the Longfellow Community Council.
The program provides these beds on a first-come-first-served basis. It may be possible for you to sign up for a subsidized bed even if one is not available. We will make our best effort to inform you as soon as possible about our eligibility.
